The 52nd Sports Day at Vivekananda Matriculation Higher Secondary School for 2024-2025 took place on 8th July 2024 at Lalitha Kuzhanthaivelu Stadium. The event commenced with a prayer song, followed by a welcome address by Senior Principal Mr. P. Joshua Prabhahara singh. Esteemed guests included Mr. K. V. Radhakrishnan, Mrs. Anitha Radhakrishnan, Mr. R. Praveen Vasanth Jabez, Mrs. Anusiya Mary Praveen, and Mr. R. Alexander Heflin Isaiah.

The next highlight of the 52nd Sports Day at Vivekananda Matriculation Higher Secondary School was the prestigious flag hoisting ceremony. The Olympic flag was honored by Mr. R. Praveen Vasanth Jabez, Director of Good Samaritan Public School. The national flag was honored by Mr. K. V. Radhakrishnan and Mrs. Anitha Radhakrishnan, Chairpersons of Vivekananda and Good Samaritan Group of Institutions. The school flag was honored by Mr. P. Joshua Prabhaharasing, Senior Principal of VMHSS, Sirkali. This ceremonial act added a sense of pride and unity to the event, symbolizing the school’s commitment to excellence in both academics and sports.

After the flag hoisting ceremony, our students captivated all visitors with a spectacular march past. Mr. K. V. Radhakrishnan had the honor of lighting the torch, officially inaugurating the Sports Day proceedings. Students from all grades participated in a meticulously coordinated mass drill, showcasing discipline and precision that delighted the audience. It was a pleasure to witness the students guided by the staff members with expertise and enthusiasm. The traditional Silambam performance by our Vivekananda school boys and girls left a lasting impression on all participants and viewers alike. The event drew significant attention, with all viewers cheering and encouraging the participants in every event.

Prizes were distributed to the primary standard students by Mrs. Anitha Radhakrishnan, Mr. R. Praveen Vasanth Jabez, and Mr. R. Alexander Heflin Isaiah, offering encouragement to the winners. Following this, the primary school students added to the event’s festive atmosphere with a well-executed mass drill. Mr. K. V. Radhakrishnan then delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of Sports Day and sharing challenging moments to motivate the students. He promised to enhance future sports activities and expressed his aspiration for our school students to participate in the next Olympics.

chief guest, Mr. R. Alexander Heflin Isaiah, delivered an enlightening address. He shared valuable insights with the boys and girls, raising awareness about online scams and highlighting the importance of sports in developing problem-solving skills. His message resonated deeply with everyone present.

Thrilling Sprints and Relays Highlight Sports Day at VMHSS

The Sports Day commenced with exhilarating 100-meter sprints for boys and girls, delivering impressive performances amid enthusiastic cheers. Relay events followed, spanning sub-junior, junior, senior, and super senior categories, including competitive 4×100 meter relays and 800-meter open relays for girls, as well as a remarkable 1500-meter open relay for boys, covering grades 6 to 12. These events showcased athleticism and camaraderie among students.

Afternoon Celebration with Mr. V. Ranganathan, Honoring Sports Day at VMHSS

The afternoon session of Sports Day at Vivekananda Matriculation Higher Secondary School was graced by the presence of retired teacher Mr. V. Ranganathan, B.Sc., M.A., M.Ed., who was warmly welcomed by Senior Principal Mr. P. Joshua Prabhaharasingh. Mr. Ranganathan delivered an inspiring speech, delving into the rich history of Vivekananda School and underscoring the profound significance of Sports Day. He posed thought-provoking questions about the importance of sports for students and commended the school’s continuous efforts in playground development and management. In a gesture of support, Mr. Ranganathan generously donated Rs. 5000 towards further ground development.

Mr. K. V. Radhakrishnan, Chairman of Vivekananda Educational Institutions, honored Mr. Ranganathan, exchanging commendations on his exceptional management skills. The celebration continued with a culturally rich dance performance by the girls, adding a vibrant touch to the event. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony, where Mr. Ranganathan, Mr. K. V. Radhakrishnan, and Mrs. Anitha Radhakrishnan presented awards, including the Overall Good Participation Award to the Red House.
